About Lisbon and The Congress Center Lisbon
Looking out to the wide expanse of the Atlantic Ocean, Lisbon is a city rich in heritage, culture and hospitality. A place that enjoys a year-round mild climate, Lisbon has an abundance of seafood restaurants, and is famous for its authentic yellow trams.
According to the American television chain CNN, Lisbon is the 'coolest' city in Europe.
It praised the nightlife, as well as the "fascinating streets" of the historic districts. The proximity to fantastic beaches is also identified as a major asset, as is the gastronomy.
The A2 Motorway serves attendees travelling from the south of the country, whereas the A6 Motorway is recommendable for those coming from the east. The 25 Abril Bridge must also be crossed in order to reach Lisbon from these directions and traffic can be heavy at peak times. The A12 Motorway is accessed from the north and involves a crossing on the Vasco da Gama Bridge (the longest bridge in Europe). The A5 Motorway is advisable for visitors who travel from the West. Most of the motorways which connect Lisbon with the rest of the country are linked to at least one of the three ring roads of the capital.
Lisbon Airport is the main international gateway to Portugal. Being one of the largest airports in Southern Europe, Lisbon Airport has two main runways and continues to expand.
Outside the terminal buildings one is able to obtain taxi services. These generally charge an average of €15 to the city center. Some of the taxis have meters in them. They charge a minimum of €2.35 during the day and €2.50 at night.
Though some of the taxi drivers may take longer routes to keep the meter running, the trip should take an average of 15 minutes to the city center.
Lisbon's GARE DO ORIENTE is about 3km/1.5 miles from the airport. It is served by all long-distance trains to and from other parts of Portugal plus many local and suburban trains. The metro red line connects the airport and Gare Oriente every few minutes from 0600hrs to 0100hrs. http://metro.transporteslisboa.pt/eng/customer-info/diagrams-and-maps/journey-planner
