christmas donation 2013: Multiple non-profit projects are pleased with support

Multiple non-profit projects were pleased about the support they received from T.A. Cook. In the Berlin as well as in the Birmingham offices employees packed packages with gifts that will help make Christmas a happier time for deprived children. The company also sponsored transport to Eastern Europe. The US branch chose to donate to the Mariposa School for Children with Autism. In addition T.A. Cook continued its support for the Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre in Cape Town which provides shelter for 36 mentally and physically disabled children between the ages of two and twelve. Immediately after the thyphoon had devastated the Philippines, T.A. Cook donated money to Caritas Germany for emergency assistance, shelter, food and medical aid in the region.

T.A. Cook is delighted to announce that Oklahoma-based Limbs for Life and the Sibongile Day and Night Centre in Cape Town, South Africa will be the recipients of its Christmas charitable cause donation fund.

Each year, over 150,000 individuals join a list of over 4 million existing amputees in the USA, who are faced with staggering emotional and financial lifestyle changes. Limbs for Life is a nonprofit organization which strives to transform their lives by providing full prosthetic care.

Debra South, Executive Director of Limbs for Life, said, “We are honored to be your chosen charitable organization for this year.  Your investment in our mission is substantial and we are grateful that you value our work.”

Sibongile Day and Night Centre aims to provide quality physical, emotional and spiritual care to children with disabilities in the Khayelitsha community in Cape Town.  Since 2005, it has given a home to more than 24 children between the ages of 2 and 12.

Commenting on the donation Marco Spalke, Chairman of Sibongile Day and Night Centre, said, “Here in South Africa, we´re overwhelmed to receive such a large sum and are extremely grateful to your team for your support.”

Thomas Cook, President and Chief Executive Officer, T.A. Cook, said “Both Limbs for Life and the Sibongile Day and Night Centre are causes that are very close to our hearts.  We are delighted to be able to help them continue with their vital and admirable work.”

Christmas 2011: Doctors in Tanzania

As in previous years, T.A. Cook’s Christmas appeal called on people to support a good cause with the click of a mouse. Those who clicked on the link sent by email helped to support the Mbesa Mission Hospital and the young doctors Mr and Mrs Seckelmann in southern Tanzania in two ways: ‘symbolically’ by placing a flag on an interactive map and joining the project network, and financially, as for every click, T.A. Cook made a donation to the hospital. The total sum raised by mouseclick was rounded up to 10,000 euros by T.A. Cook.

Christmas 2010: Helping Children Recover from Cancer

Christmas is one of the most important celebrations of the year for families. Especially children count down the days to Christmas Day in great anticipation.

With this in mind, T.A. Cook decided that this year’s fundraiser should be in aid of the Deutsche Kinderkrebsnachsorge, a German charity providing aftercare for children with cancer. A new centre is planned for Brandenburg to provide children with better therapeutical and medical services. One of the centre’s main objectives is to integrate family members and offer them a safe place to recover and find new strength. » »

Christmas 2009, Kompaxx, Gangway and the Jenny De la Torre-Foundation

After a very successful business year, T.A. Cook is supporting three projects this Christmas:

Kompaxx e.V. is a Berlin-based organization that supports young people and families, e.g. by helping children with difficulties at school to pass their exams. Gangway works with street kids in Berlin and will use the donation for its ‘football league’ project – which is more about learning how to work together than who shoots the most goals – the winner is the fairest team. The Jenny De La Torre Foundation runs a health centre for homeless people in the Berlin district Neukölln. Patients are treated here free of charge and can also get a warm meal and a new change of clothes. » » »

Christmas 2008, Kinderschutzengel e.V.

This year’s donation went to Kinderschutzengel e.V. in support of their work with chronically ill children and their families. The ‘Kinderschutzengel’ – literally, the guardian angels of children – help both kids and grownups: magicians and clowns visit children in hospitals to play and celebrate with them. Psychologists from the organization also help the children’s families to cope with the burdens of the illness. »

May 2008, Youth with a Mission

Attacks on foreigners in Johannesburg: more than two dozen people dead and several hundred injured – in response to this wave of violence, T.A. Cook decided to support a local Christian aid organization Youth with a Mission that helps the refugees and provides them with emergency supplies. »

Christmas 2007, Murmansk e.V.

T.A. Cook’s donation will help to finance the cost of flights and accommodation for seven-year old Milena, who has been deaf since birth and is to receive a cochlear implant in Germany. Part of the donation will also go towards funding an annual event that brings together schoolchildren both with and without impaired hearing. »

Christmas 2007, Youth with a Mission

This Christmas, staff from T.A. Cook are making a donation to the Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre in South Africa which provides professional and loving care to children with physical and mental disabilities, most of whom are orphans.
